Full day introductory knifemaking course
Make your very own blacksmith's knife
Service Description
Dive into the Art of Blacksmithing: Craft Your Own Knife in Our Thrilling One-Day Workshop at Fairmile Forge! Ignite your creativity and master the timeless craft of blacksmithing with our engaging introductory knifemaking course – a full day of hands-on excitement where you'll forge your very own stunning blacksmith's knife from start to finish. Perfect for beginners eager to explore the world of metalworking, this workshop blends essential blacksmithing techniques with the thrill of creating a functional, personalized blade you'll proudly take home! Under the expert guidance of our skilled blacksmith Matt, you'll begin with vital safety training and an intro to our authentic coke forges and tools. Then, dive into the fundamentals of fire management and precise heating. Step by step, Matt will demonstrate on your own forge and anvil, walking you through transforming a piece of car spring steel into a beautifully shaped knife. We'll finish with professional hardening and tempering, ensuring your creation is durable and ready for everyday use – a true testament to your newfound skills! We provide all the tools and materials you need, so just come ready for adventure. Dress comfortably in cotton gear like jeans and shirts (it's bound to get gloriously gritty!), and skip synthetics like acrylic or nylon for safety. Fuel your day with complimentary tea and coffee, and bring along a packed lunch or let us sort a tasty takeaway from the delightful local pub, The Kings Head in Docklow. This inspiring session runs from 9:30am to 5pm, leaving you with a gorgeous, hand-forged knife to cherish and show off. Got questions or ready to book?
