Service Description

In this 2.5-day session up to 4 people will make their own sword from start to finish, you will be given an introduction to safety and the use of the coke forges and tools, and then learn the basics of fire management and heating, then Matt will demonstrate and guide you on your own forge and anvil step by step into how to forge a blade, cross guard, pommel, make a handle, harden and temper, grind and assemble all the pieces together for you to take home and enjoy your very own longsword! The blades will be made from EN45 spring steel hardened and tempered these make very forgiving excellent sword blades. It is advisable to have some prior experience in metalworking by taking another introductory course before embarking on this course. This course starts on a Wednesday-Friday morning and ends on Friday at 1 pm it is expected the course will likely run over past 1 pm and we will accommodate any last-minute help to ensure you can go home with a fitted sword. accommodation can be arranged nearby if needed please email for further details. All tools and materials will be provided, please wear suitable clothing if you don't mind getting dirty or marked. Cotton clothing is ideal like jeans and shirts, please don't wear acrylic or nylon clothing. Refreshments of Tea and coffee are provided but you are advised to bring a lunch with you or a take out can be arranged from the local pub- The Kings Head Docklow We can recommend a choice of nearby accommodation for those seeking an overnight stay- The Barn Too; a spacious ground-floor apartment nearby in Bredenbury Birchwood Camping; is an excellent family-run campsite just around the corner. Cancellation Policy

Once your booking has been confirmed, you will receive confirmation of your booked event and your receipt, relevant details for your booked course will also be emailed to you, if you have not recieved these please contact us We require a minimum of 21 days cancellation notice prior to your scheduled arrival date. In the event of cancellation or booking amendments made less than 21 days before the event, or failure to attend the event, you will forfeit your deposit and Fair Mile Forge shall be entitled to retain the deposit. 1. Limited Spaces: Class capacities are limited, and by securing a booking, you are reserving one of the few available spots for the selected course. 2. Booking Deposit: A 50% deposit or as otherwise stated of the total course fee is required upon booking. A full refund is available for cancellations made up to 21 days before the course date. Cancellations after this period will result in the forfeiture of the deposit. The full course fee is due 21 days prior to the class commencement, and cancellations thereafter will result in the loss of the entire class fee. 3. Class Cancellation: In the unlikely event of a class cancellation by the organizer, all deposits and payments will be fully refunded. However, the organizer cannot be held responsible for any additional costs incurred. 4. Modifying a Reservation: Should you require a change in the date of your booking, you can do so up to 21 days before the scheduled course date.
