Embark on an Epic Adventure: Forge Your Own Longsword in Our 3-Day Blacksmithing Masterclass at Fairmile Forge! Unleash your inner swordsmith and create a timeless masterpiece with our immersive 3-day sword-making course, perfect for up to 4 passionate participants. Over three thrilling days, you'll transform raw steel into a stunning, fully functional longsword – from the first strike of the hammer to the final polish. Imagine the pride of wielding a blade you've crafted with your own hands! Guided by our expert blacksmith Matt, you'll dive right in with essential safety training and an introduction to our traditional coke forges and tools. Master the art of fire management and precise heating, then follow step-by-step demonstrations to forge your blade, cross guard, and pommel. You'll craft a custom handle, harden and temper the steel for durability, grind to perfection, and assemble it all into a heirloom-quality longsword to take home and cherish. Crafted from premium EN45 spring steel – known for its forgiving nature and exceptional performance – your sword will be as resilient as it is beautiful. While some prior metalworking experience (like one of our introductory courses) is recommended for the best results, complete beginners are absolutely welcome! We'll provide all the hands-on support you need to succeed. This unforgettable journey kicks off at 9:00 am on Wednesday and wraps up by 5:30 pm on Friday, with flexible assistance to ensure your sword is perfectly fitted and ready to go. Traveling from afar? We can help arrange comfortable nearby accommodation – just ask! Everything you need is included: all tools, materials, and even complimentary tea and coffee throughout the day. Pack a lunch or let us organize a delicious takeaway from the charming local pub, The Kings Head in Docklow. Dress for the forge in comfy cotton attire like jeans and shirts (avoid synthetics like acrylic or nylon to stay safe and comfortable while getting gloriously hands-on). Cancellation Policy
Once your booking has been confirmed, you will receive confirmation of your booked event and your receipt, relevant details for your booked course will also be emailed to you, if you have not recieved these please contact us We require a minimum of 21 days cancellation notice prior to your scheduled arrival date. In the event of cancellation or booking amendments made less than 21 days before the event, or failure to attend the event, you will forfeit your deposit and Fair Mile Forge shall be entitled to retain the deposit. 1. Limited Spaces: Class capacities are limited, and by securing a booking, you are reserving one of the few available spots for the selected course. 2. Booking Deposit: A 50% deposit or as otherwise stated of the total course fee is required upon booking. A full refund is available for cancellations made up to 21 days before the course date. Cancellations after this period will result in the forfeiture of the deposit. The full course fee is due 21 days prior to the class commencement, and cancellations thereafter will result in the loss of the entire class fee. 3. Class Cancellation: In the unlikely event of a class cancellation by the organizer, all deposits and payments will be fully refunded. However, the organizer cannot be held responsible for any additional costs incurred. 4. Modifying a Reservation: Should you require a change in the date of your booking, you can do so up to 21 days before the scheduled course date.
